Each safari is a very individual experience – therefore we cater to your personal wishes. You can compose your exclusive travel package very comfortably on your „wish list“. Most often we conduct hunts in the Northern Cape. Of course, the whole of South Africa is at your disposal for the selection of your itinerary. We will then plan the route you want together with you. Accommodation is in classic lodges and safari tents. We want you to experience South Africa at its best while having a comfortable stay. This includes evening debriefings of the hunt around the campfire.
We recommend a trip with Swinkspan Safari between the months of February and November. During this time, temperatures are pleasant, so you can enjoy South Africa even more.
Transportation is provided individually depending on your desired itinerary. Usually, shorter distances are traveled by car. Longer distances also by plane.
Classic African dishes are served as well as game meat from your hunt. This gives you a very special African experience. We are also happy to accommodate your personal wishes, allergies and intolerances. Breakfast and lunch as well as a light snack in the wilderness are included.
A good safari consists of no more than four hunters. This not only makes the travel itself much easier, it also gives you more room for your experiences and wishes. Observers who do not wish to participate in the hunt themselves are also welcome at any time. We also recommend a travel duration of at least seven days.
For the ultimate hunting experience, we recommend a solo hunt. During the hunt you will be accompanied by a professional hunter who will be available to answer any questions you may have. You can communicate wishes and comments before the hunt, so your professional hunter can respond directly to your needs. The hunting game depends on your hunting and travel route. Basically the hunt includes all plains game and some of the Big Five. For the most part, hunting refers to walking and stalking. Also tracking and stalking.
During your trip you will always be accompanied by a professionally trained hunter. Eben Nel has completed his hunting qualification at the Northern Cape Professional Hunting School and is your round the clock contact for all your questions about safari, hunting and history.
He comes from Kimberley in the Northern Cape of South Africa and through his extensive experience knows the hunting areas very well.
He has excellent knowledge of rifle shot selection and identification, rifles and hunting techniques. He will also be happy to answer and explain questions about ballistics and sighting methods, skinning and trapping animals, local bird species and African mammals. Your safety is always a top priority, so you can rest assured that your guide has extensive survival and first aid knowledge.

We prepared some links you might find useful.
1) General information
It is advised to take a suitable, sturdy case with you. Caution: the common plastic suitcases are oversized sometimes and may be charged separately as bulky luggage. You should also allow enough time before departure – three hours before departure in Germany can be tight. There can be longer delays at the connecting flight to Kimberley with the weapon as well! Therefore, you should rather plan a longer stay in Johannesburg than get into time trouble. On the way back from Kimberly to Johannesburg it should be faster, as it is a very small airport with its own firearms office.
2) Departure Germany
You need to bring your WBK, hunting license and EU firearms passport. It is recommended to obtain an INF3-confirmation at customs at the airport. A document that proves your ownership of the weapon, which is also in the weapons legal documents. The weapon must be registered and checked in at the check-in counter. The staff will contact the police, who will then check the weapon.
The weapon must be presented in Johannesburg to be checked by the police for the temporary weapons permit. When leaving the country, the ammunition may be in the suitcase (for connecting flights in South Africa, it must and should be removed in advance).
3) Entry South Africa / Johannesburg
The normal luggage comes over the luggage belt. Caution: Sometimes the weapons / ammunition also arrive over the luggage belt, always have a look at it.
The SAPS520 form has to be presented there (available on the internet at the same time with instructions for filling it out).
Optionally, a service provider can be hired to prepare or apply in advance for the temporary (or transitory) permit.
4) Connecting flight to Kimberley
Once the firearm permit is obtained, you may check in your normal baggage. Weapon and ammunition will be checked in at the firearm office (SA AIRLINK check-in counters and/or SA AIRLINK Concierge counters will be happy to assist you). Upon arrival in Kimberley, your baggage will arrive on the luggage belt. Weapon and ammunition are to be collected locally from the firearm office.
5) Return journey Kimberley
Weapon and ammunition are to be registered and handed in at the firearm office.
6) Return journey Johannesburg / Departure SA
Weapon and ammunition must be collected from the firearm office near the baggage carousels.
Then follows the check-in at the counter. After contacting the local security, the temporary weapon permit remains with the security officer. The baggage claim in Frankfurt is done via the bulky luggage counter at the luggage belt (Caution: suitcases might be unattended there).
You can coordinate your trip comfortably in German or English with our office in Europe.
We take over the communication with the office in South Africa with you and for you.
